Unemployment rate realized as 10.7%

Seniors 15 and over Turkey in the number of unemployed increased by 354 thousand persons compared to the same period last year, in July 2016 was 3 million 324 thousand people. The unemployment rate rose by 0.9 points to 10.7%. In the same period; The non-agricultural unemployment rate was estimated at 13% with a 1 percentage point increase. While the unemployment rate in the young population (15-24 years) was 19.8% with an increase of 1.5 points, this rate was 11% with an increase of 1 point in the 15-64 age group.

Employment rate was 47%

Number of employed persons increased by 294 thousand persons in July 2016 compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 27 million 636 thousand persons and the employment rate decreased by 0.2 points to 47%.

In this period, the number of workers in the agricultural sector decreased by 291 thousand, while the number of workers in non-agricultural sectors increased by 586 thousand. 20.7% of those employed were in agriculture, 19% in industry, 7.4% in construction and 52.9% in services. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the share of agriculture in employment decreased by 1.3 percentage points and the share of industrial sector decreased by 0.5 percentage points. On the other hand, while the share of the construction sector remained unchanged, the share of the services sector increased by 1.8 points.

Labor force participation rate was 52.7%

In July 2016, labor force increased by 650 thousand people compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 30 million 961 thousand people and the labor force participation rate increased by 0.3 points to 52.7%. According to the comparisons made for the same periods; labor force participation rate for males remained unchanged at 72.8% and for females by 0.6 points to 33%.

The rate of informal workers was 34.3%

In July 2016, the percentage of employees working without any social security institutions decreased by 0.7 points compared to the same period of the previous year and became 34.3%.

Seasonally adjusted employment and unemployment increased

Seasonally adjusted employment increased by 25 thousand people compared to the previous period was estimated at 27 million 78 thousand people. The employment rate remained unchanged at 46.1%.

Seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people increased by 73 thousand compared to the previous period and amounted to 3 million 401 thousand people. The unemployment rate rose by 0.2 pp to 11.2%.

Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate increased by 0.1 points to 51.9% in the previous period. The number of people employed by economic activity increased by 76 thousand in the agricultural sector, 21 thousand in the service sector, and 4 thousand in the construction sector, and decreased by 76 thousand in the industrial sector.
