Deaths from circulatory system diseases were 161 thousand 920

The first three places in the cause of death did not change in 2018. Circulatory system diseases accounted for 38.4% of all deaths. This was followed by benign and malignant tumors with 19.7% and respiratory diseases with 12.5%.

Ischemic heart disease accounted for 39.7% of circulatory system deaths

After ischemic heart disease, cerebro-vascular disease was seen with 22.4% and hypertensive diseases were seen with 8.3%.

Laryngeal and trachea / bronchial / lung tumors most commonly caused by tumor death

The total number of deaths due to malignant tumors in 2018 was 81 thousand 129. 30.8% of these deaths were caused by a malignant tumor of the larynx and trachea / bronchus / lung.

Ölüm nedeni istatistikleri yaş gruplarına göre incelendiğinde; 2018 yılında dolaşım sistemi hastalıklarının en çok 51 bin 376 kişi ile 75-84 yaş grubunda, iyi ve kötü huylu tümörlerin ise en fazla 23 bin 674 kişi ile 65-74 yaş grubunda olduğu görüldü.
 
İkamet edilen illere göre ölüm nedenleri incelendiğinde; 2018 yılında dolaşım sistemi hastalıklarına bağlı ölümlerin oranının en yüksek olduğu ilk beş il sırasıyla; %48 ile Çorum, %47,2 ile Denizli, %46,7 ile Adana, %46,2 ile Çanakkale ve Afyonkarahisar oldu. İyi ve kötü huylu tümörler nedeniyle gerçekleşen ölümlerin oranının en yüksek olduğu ilk beş il ise sırasıyla; %24,6 ile Kırklareli, %23,8 ile İstanbul, %23,2 ile Van ve Eskişehir, %23 ile Edirne oldu.

Cause of Death Statistics are generated by using administrative records taken from the "Death Notification System". Death notification forms are compiled in accordance with the International Classification of Diseases (UHS-10) and World Health Organization (WHO) rules, and the underlying cause of death is coded accordingly.

Due to the fact that the forms related to the death cases of the previous year whose legal process has not been finalized are entered into the Death Notification System after the completion of the judicial process, the tables of the previous year are updated in the news bulletin published in the reference period.
