In 2014, health expenditures increased by 12.3% and reached 94 billion 750 million TL. The share of current health expenditures in total health expenditures was 94.4% in 2013 and 93.8% in 2014.

Health expenditure accounts for 5.4% of gross domestic product (GDP)

The ratio of total health expenditure to GDP remained unchanged at 5.4% in 2014 compared to the previous year. Again, the ratio of general government health expenditures to GDP remained unchanged at 4.2% compared to the previous year. For the private sector, this rate was calculated as 1.2%.

77.4% of health expenditures were met from general government budget

While the share of general government health expenditures in total health expenditures was 78.5% in 2013, it decreased to 77.4% in 2014.

17.8% of health expenditures were covered by households

Treatment by households, medicine, etc. out-of-pocket health expenditures increased by 18.8% in 2014 and reached TL 16 billion 819 million. The share of out-of-pocket health expenditures by households in total health expenditures rose to 17.8% in 2014.

Health expenditure per person was 1 232 TL

While per capita health expenditure was 1 110 TL in 2013, it increased by 11% in 2014 and reached 1 232 TL. When per capita health expenditures were evaluated in US dollars ($), it was calculated as $ 563 in 2014 from $ 583 in 2013.
