Consumer Confidence Index, October 2015 (TSI)

Consumer confidence index up 7.3%

Turkey Statistical Institute and the consumer confidence index calculated from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey consumer tendency survey results carried out with cooperation, increased by 7.3% in October from the previous month; The index, which was 58.52 in September, became 62.78 in October.



Expectation of household financial situation increased by 5.5%

The financial situation expectation index of the household increased by 5.5% compared to the previous month. The index value which was 82.08 in September was 86.58 in October. This increase stemmed from the increase in the ratio of those who expect that the financial situation of the household will be better in the next 12 months.

General economic situation expectation increased by 12.3%

The general economic situation expectation index, which was 72.04 in September, increased by 12.3% and became 80.87 in October. This increase indicates that the number of consumers expecting that the general economic situation will be better in the next 12 months period has increased compared to the previous month.

Number of unemployed expectation increased by 4.4%

The number of unemployed expectation index increased by 4.4% compared to the previous month and rose to 64.61 in October. This increase stemmed from the decrease in the ratio of those expecting an increase in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months.

Probability of saving increased by 5.3%

The probability of saving index increased by 5.3%. The index rose from 18.11 in September to 19.07 in October. This increase shows that consumers are more likely to save in the next 12 months compared to the previous month.

With the monthly consumer tendency survey, the current period assessments of the personal financial situation of the consumers and the general economy are measured with the expectations of the future period and the tendencies regarding the expenditures and savings planned in the near future are determined.

The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results can take value in the range 0-200. The consumer confidence index is higher than 100, which indicates that the consumer confidence is optimistic.
