24.5% of household consumption expenditures in Istanbul
According to the combined results of 2012, 2013 and 2014 data of Household Budget Survey; 24.5% of the total consumption expenditure was made by households living in Istanbul, followed by the Aegean Region with 14.6%, followed by the Mediterranean Region with 12%. Only 1.9% of the expenditures were made by households in the Northeast Anatolia Region.

Southeast Anatolia Region has the highest share in food and non-alcoholic beverages
When the distribution of expenditure groups within the region is examined; Southeast Anatolia Region has the highest share of food and non-alcoholic beverages expenditures of households with a rate of 26%, while Istanbul has the lowest region with 16.1%. Istanbul has the highest share in housing and rent expenditures with 28.9%, while this share was 22.3% in the Middle East Anatolia Region.
Western Anatolia was the region with the highest share of 19.6% in transport expenditures, while the Eastern Black Sea region was the region with the lowest share of 13.9%. While Istanbul had the highest share in education expenditures with 3.2%, the Eastern Black Sea, Middle East Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia Regions had the lowest share with 1.4%.

All of the sample households surveyed in 2012, 2013 and 2014 were combined in order to generate regional estimates from the Household Budget Survey data; At this stage, spending values in 2012 and 2013 were drawn to their prices in the relevant month of 2014.
